90 Years of Integrity, Compassion and Love

Born in Tacoma, Washington in 1918 as Komayo Nakagawara, Kay was raised as a young child in Japan with her younger brother Minoru until she graduated high school . She returned to the USA in 1938 to meet her parents and her younger siblings for the first time. She continued to work to earn earn a college degree at a fashion design school in Seattle. When graduated, she married George Yoshio Hara in 1942. As WWII interceded, they were forced to live in the Relocation camps of Minadoka, Idaho. After their release in 1945, they moved East to New York City and started a new life. Their four sons, Edward, Davis, Martin and Gary all grew up in the same Bronx apartment where Kay lives today. The NY Buddhist Church was their personal connection to the Japanese American Community and their practice of the Buddhist way of life in America.
The Family and the Community of the NY Buddhist Church gathered together on April 19th, 2008 to Celebrate Komayo Hara and her 90 years of Integrity, Compassion and Love. All of the guests who attended were presented with this short visual overview of Komayo Hara's life in Japan and the USA. Everyone cheered and acknowledged Kay with their applause, their love and their contributions to the NY Buddhist Church.Happy 90th Birthday Kay! We love you.

This is a picture that I found online that reminded me of the mountain streams in the Catskill Mountains after a rain storm.

The mist and the white noise of water over rocks and trees always gave me pause to admire the sudden beauty of nature.

Martin Hara Executive Design Director/ CEO Martin Hara is a Multi-Emmy award winning design director and producer of digital media designs with extensive experience in video production, online learning, internet marketing and computer animation. He is also a creative design expert of corporate communications for such Fortune 100 companies such as Goldman Sachs, Pfizer, Citigroup and Johnson & Johnson.

Recent highlights include:

• The animated design look of “the History of Citigroup” – the premiere
campaign for the new CEO of Citigroup, Charles Prince.
• The first interactive content design for Pfizer’s Global Security Website

• The first animated logo design for Altria, its new corporate identity for
the Phillip Morris family of companies

As the former Executive Design Director for Burson-Marsteller’s New Media practice, a division of Young and Rubicam, Hara launched the first online learning website for Burson-Marsteller University (B-MU) Learning Center. He also directed the combined CD Rom / Web Site media launch for the US Treasury Department’s new money education campaign titled "Get Real or Get Taken”.

Hara design directed the initial launch of "Goldman Sachs Learning Net," a global learning intranet for Goldman Sachs Worldwide in 1998 and today, still continues to develop customized content modules for its various divisions online.

As Executive Design Director for Time Inc New Media, Hara directed the final redesign and development of Pathfinder, Time Warner’s web portal for Money, People, Time, Life, Fortune, CNN, Sports Illustrated and SI for Kids.

Hara’s broadcast video design experience includes the launch of Satellite News Channel, a division of ABC/Group W; the computer redesign of WCBS News; and the launch of the flagship station for Fox Networks in NYC.

He was awarded the Emmy Award of Outstanding Graphic Design for the launch of New York 1 News, the first all digital 24-hour local news station in 1992.
